🐣 The Next Generation is Here: Welcome to "Point-of-Lay"!
What's "point-of-lay," you ask? Think of it as the hen-version of a quinceañera! It's that magical moment when a young hen (a "pullet") is mature enough to start laying her first eggs. Our new flock has officially hit this milestone, and we're starting to see the first adorable, tiny "pullet eggs." These are like the practice round before they start laying the beautiful, full-sized eggs you know and love. It's a sign of great things to come!

🔬 Our Eggs, Our Impact: Aiding in Cancer Research
We are incredibly proud to share that fertile eggs from our very own flock, from a rooster named Posha, are being used to advance cancer research. It’s a powerful reminder that the commitment to quality and natural practices here at Punto Pio can have an impact far beyond the breakfast table.

Speaking of health, a recent article in El Nuevo Día shed light on a silent and aggressive form of breast cancer. Here's a quick summary:
Inflammatory Breast Cancer: A rare but aggressive type that often doesn't show as a lump.
Look for other signs: Symptoms can include redness, swelling, skin thickening, or an inverted nipple.
Early detection is key: Awareness of these symptoms is crucial for early diagnosis and treatment.

📰 Punto Pio in the News: The Bad Bunny Effect
Our Chief Eggxecutive Officer, Armando González, recently penned a column in EyBoricua reflecting on the Bad Bunny concert controversy and what it says about our relationship with agriculture. Here are the key takeaways:
A Cultural Mirror: The use of chickens on stage, while controversial, reflected a deep-rooted part of Puerto Rican rural culture.
An Opportunity for Dialogue: Instead of just criticism, the moment can be used to spark conversations about our island's food sovereignty (we import 85% of our food!).
A Call to Action: The real urgency is to inspire a new generation of farmers and for all of us to support local agriculture.

🚗 On the Road Again (Almost!)
We know there have been some delivery delays recently, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. The Pío-fleet has had a rough time! But there's good news: Yari's Yaris is back in action, and the parts for the Caliber have finally arrived! We expect to have it back on the road by next week, which means more reliable deliveries for everyone. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

🐶 Guardian Dog Update: Welcome, Bernard!
Our new guardian-in-training, Bernard, is settling in wonderfully. For his safety, he's living with Yari off-farm until he has all his vaccinations. We're being extra cautious and just gave him his second round of shots. He's already getting a taste of farm life by guarding our "hospital flock," the chickens who are temporarily separated for recovery. These guardian dogs are an integral part of our farm's ecosystem, and we can't wait for Bernard to join the main flock!

🐔 A Word from Your Favorite Spokeschicken
[A picture of Onyx, the spokeschicken.]
"My dearest PIOneers, what an exciting time on the farm! The new girls are finding their voices—and their first eggs!—and it’s all thanks to your incredible support. Every time you choose our eggs, you're helping keep our feeders full and our flock feeling safe and loved. From our new guardian-in-training, Bernard, to our little ones just starting to lay, we're all flapping our wings with gratitude. Thank you for believing in us!"
— Onyx, with love from the whole flock
